For years, we have been dreaming of taking some of our friends, collaborators and subscribers on adventures with us. Now, with the launch of this inaugural Modern Huntsman experience, we'll be able to share one of our favorite places in the world.
We would like to invite you to join us in the Highlands of Scotland to experience the magic of a traditional sporting week. Set amongst striking mountains and tumbling streams, you’ll be transported back in time and immersed in centuries old traditions.
With the promise of roaring red stags, iconic Atlantic salmon, feisty brown trout, red grouse, forest dwelling sika deer, whiskey tastings and wild game dinners all part of the itinerary, it will be an immersive week of hunting, fishing and culture that is surely to be life changing.
Hosted by co-founders Byron Pace and Tyler Sharp, you will be picked up from the Inverness airport and transported into a hidden valley where the traditional estate lodge is nestled on the edge of a loch. A majestic Victorian style stone hunting lodge will be your home for the week, and once you arrive, every part of your stay will be taken care of.
Fishing for salmon and brown trout is available on two rivers and two lochs every day for all guests, all within walking distance from the lodge. This is the stuff angling dreams are made of, and countless books have been written about.
In the evenings, on request, guests will have the chance to shoot sporting clays from a trap located close to the lodge. This is a great way to practice for the grouse hunt.
Three parties of hunters will depart the lodge every day in pursuit of stags. Each party includes two hunters, and we will rotate out the hunters to make sure everyone maximizes their opportunity at a stag.
Every morning and evening there will be an opportunity for three people to hunt sika deer, which are mostly hunted from strategically positioned high-seats.
There will be a day of walk up grouse shooting over pointing dogs for anyone who would like to take part. This is conducted with two shooters at a time, taking turns at each flush of grouse. Non-hunters are welcome to join as observers.
Joined by our friends from Swarovski Optik, we’ll have binoculars and spotting scopes on hand for those interested in nature viewing and learning about the landscape.
A shuttle will pick you up in Inverness on Sunday September 24th and will drop back off on Sunday October 1st. There will also be opportunities for day trips, otherwise all activities are on the estate.
A full Scottish breakfast will start your day, with packed lunches prepared for everyone who will be spending the day out on the hill or the river. Our in-house chef and staff will curate a three course meal every night, using local produce and wild game from the hunts.
The lodge can sleep twenty people in total, with five double rooms and five twin rooms. We will allocate double rooms to couple bookings first, and single non-sharing rooms on a first come first served basis until lodge is full.
Apart from cocktails in the great room around a crackling fire, and wine pairings with dinner each night, we will also have a whiskey professional on site who will be leading scotch tastings from a variety of Scottish distillers.
