About the Trip

The Modern Huntsman team would like to invite you to join us in the Scottish Highlands to experience the magic of a traditional sporting week. Set amongst striking mountains and tumbling streams, you’ll be transported back in time and immersed in centuries-old traditions.

The promise of roaring red stags, iconic Atlantic salmon, feisty brown trout, red grouse and partridge, forest-dwelling sika deer, scotch tastings and wild game dinners all await you on this itinerary. A majestic Victorian-style stone hunting lodge will be your home for the week, and once you arrive, every part of your stay will be taken care of.

Coordinated in partnership with our friends at Swarovski Optik, world-class optics will bring you closer to nature during this immersive week of sporting culture that is sure to be life-changing.

The remaining tickets to this coveted event are now live at the button below.

This is a once in a lifetime trip, so if you’d like to attend, you should act quickly.

We hope to see you in the Scottish Highlands!

On the Agenda

Fishing

Fishing for salmon and brown trout is available on both a river and lochs every day for all guests who are not out hunting, all within walking distance from the lodge. Additional offsite fishing may also be available, but subject to vehicle availability to transport guests to and from.

Red Stag

Three parties of hunters will depart the lodge daily in pursuit of stags. Each party includes two hunters, and we will rotate out the hunters to ensure everyone maximizes their opportunity at a stag. This time on “the hill” is where you will also learn about conservation and management practices.

Upland Hunting

There will be opportunities for upland hunting later in the week, which will be determined by bird species counts, weather, and the experience level of the group. Whether it is the pursuit of grouse to complete a MacNabb, a walk-up partridge hunt, or a simulated driven shoot, it will be an unforgettable day in the field. Non-hunters are welcome to join as observers, as this day is a crowd favorite.

Sporting Clays

In the afternoons, on request, guests will have the chance to shoot sporting clays from a trap located close to the lodge. This is a great way to practice for the upland hunt or to have some friendly competition when free time allows for it.

Sika Deer

For those not out pursuing red stags, hunting guests will have opportunities to pursue sika deer, mostly done from strategically positioned high seats and blinds. These opportunities are TBD based on the availability of guides each day.

Nature Walks

With support from our friends at Swarovski Optik, we’ll have binoculars and spotting scopes on hand for those interested in nature viewing or learning about the landscape. You may also join the chefs in a daily hunt for mushrooms to include in evening meals.
