Volume Fifteen
In this issue, a common thread revealed itself: that we’ve all learned important lessons through outdoor pursuits that have shaped who we are as humans, hunters, and, in some cases, as philosophers. Jose Ortega y Gasset wisely wrote about how the experience of hunting puts us into a state that “contains something of religious rite and emotion in which homage is paid to what is divine, transcendent, and in the laws of nature.” We are reminded of things that are greater than us, that we don’t need to understand to feel and know with our entire being.
