About the Event
Join acclaimed chefs Yia Vang and Jesse Griffiths for a happy hour film screening, discussion and a 4-course meal on June 5th to celebrate the launch of Volume 14.
Happy Hour will be from 5-7, featuring appetizers and drinks from our friends at Still Austin Whiskey. We’ll be screening our latest film featuring Jesse Griffiths, which showcases his pursuit of sustainable hunting and cooking.
Following the film screening, Jesse and Yia will discuss their approach to cooking invasive species, sourcing regional food, their history that informs their recipes, and the interview featured in Volume 14.
For those who purchase dinner tickets, Chef Yia Vang will grill a traditional Hmong feast and share stories and insights about the philosophy of Hmong food and culture.
Yia was recently named ‘Best Chef of the Year’ by Esquire, is a James Beard Finalist, and his restaurant Vinai in Minneapolis was recognized on the “50” Top Restaurant List by the NY Times and by TIME as “Top 25 Restaurants in the World.”
Jesse Griffiths, a long-time contributor, is now the Modern Huntsman Wild Food Editor. His Austin restaurant, Dai Due, received a Michelin Green Star; his Wild Hog Book won a James Beard Award, and his Turkey Book has just received a James Beard nomination.
Both cookbooks will be available for purchase and signing, along with signed copies of Modern Huntsman magazine. All guests with tickets will be invited to participate in a raffle for brand partner items and will receive 20% off any purchase of NOMAD products.

Wild Food Dinner
For those with a dinner ticket, Chef Yia Vang will serve a traditional Hmong-style dinner featuring wild hog and seasonal vegetables.
Film Screening
Join us as we premiere our film featuring Jesse Griffiths. There will be a short Q&A afterwards to discuss his culinary journey thus far.
Book Signings
Copies of Volume 13 and Volume 14 will be available for purchase or signing, as well as both of Jesse’s cookbooks on wild hog and turkey.
