Amanda Monthei is a writer, podcaster, and former wildland firefighter based in Missoula, MT. Her wildfire work has appeared in outlets like The Washington Post, The Atlantic, and Mountain Gazette, while her outdoor work has been featured in The Flyfish Journal, The Drake, and Field and Stream. Her podcast, Life with Fire, explores how we can better coexist with wildfire through long-form interviews with policymakers, wildland firefighters, Indigenous fire practitioners, researchers, and others who are making change in the wildfire space. Her daydreams are mostly occupied by northern Michigan, where she grew up catching brook trout in cedar swamps and going ice fishing against her will.
